The Mehess Effect

Experimentalist Bill Mehess shook up the newsgroups in October with the announcement of a magnetic-levitation experiment producing several hundred grams of weight-loss using a unique magnetic device. After a bumpy start, he’s back with a new device that seems to defy conventional explanation, as well as gravity...

Mehess' initial claims to be seeing a net thrust were met with skepticism, as the critics believed that weight wasn't being lost overall -- merely transferred from the device on the balance-beam to an offboard magnet placed on the ground. However, Mehess persisted, and it appears to have paid off -- his version 2 device works by utilizing a full-onboard weight-reduction system that defies conventional physics.

What makes this device especially interesting is the DC-operation based on conventional parts & components, which stands in contrast to the RF-AC operation of most AG device claims. If nothing else, Bill's research shows how force-of-will can work to overcome initial criticism in creating a device worthy of further experimentation.

Speaking of which, it's interesting to note that Bill is planning to engage in replications of this device within the open-source community: this open, honest approach to research will prove to be the ultimate test of his design, and it's expected that with a bit of assistance from the experimental community, we should be seeing some very interesting results in the near future!

could of gave more detail and was inspiring though about the future !

Fascinating stuff. I was dissapointed that the total system shows no weight loss but then Bill said he came up with a fix for that. I want to know what that fix is! He did say he will post it soon. By the way Tim strictly speaking this would not be a DC device since it could be done using just permanent magnets. Isn't that mind boggling a simple device like this that could theoretically become weightless without even energy imput!

It doesn't say anything about how this device works! [EDITOR - It's still a mystery. Many experiments begin as anomalies only to be explained later. Bill just needs time to learn more about this effect first.]

His first device sounds like something I almost decided to make for a science fair years ago. I was even going to use the Testor UFO model to make it look really out of this world. Using DC voltage is an alternative that is probably not usually considered. Which version is it in this link http://www.geocities.com/auction606/agdevice.html

Would love to see this turned into open source. When will this start Looks promising but the linked website does not show enough detail to replicate. Too bad as I would start building one. This looks like a perfect JLN labs type open source project and something JLN would replicate. Keep up the good work.

This rating system sucks. My rating was removed since it was not positive. I just said that the article was poor because the author 'forgot' to mention that the bank with permanent magnets became heavier while the device became lighter. [EDITOR - NO, YOUR COMMENT WAS REMOVED BECAUSE WE CLEARLY MENTIONED IN THE ARTICLE THAT THE EXTERNAL MAGNET ISSUE HAD BEEN FIXED. ACCURATE REPORTING DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU GET LICENSE TO WRITE NEGATIVE STATEMENTS.)
